If you did not realize that the West Indies are not in the World Cup later this year in India, please pinch yourself. Yes folks, it’s the harsh reality of life. From being World Cup 50 over champions in 1975 and 1979 to not even being part of the 2023 World Cup is basically a slap in the face. All West Indian fans kept asking themselves if things could get any lower for the regional side and unfortunately it did. Is it possible for all West Indian fans to be upset that the team did not qualify for the semi-finals of the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019? Is it that heart break continues to loom largely game after game? Was there any confidence moving forward after the West Indies annihilated Pakistan in their first match of this tournament? Current Champs Australia Verses West Indian Flair
On Friday May 31st 2019, West Indies totally annihilated the Pakistanis at Trent Bridge, Nottingham in their opening World Cup fixture. Cruising to victory by 7 wickets, this was Pakistan’s heaviest defeat in World Cup Cricket history. The margin of defeat was 218 balls to spare after being bundled out for a paltry 105 on a pitch that had good pace and bounce for the fast bowlers on display.
