The once mighty West Indies were the winners of the inaugural World Cup in 1975 and then repeated the feat in 1979. The men from the Caribbean lost the final to winners India, well led by Kapil Dev in 1983. Unfortunately that was the last time the West Indians reached a World Cup final in the 50 over version. Record Breaking Opening Partnership Sees Windies crush Ireland in Tri-Series Opener
The old saying goes that records are meant to be broken. On Sunday May 5th 2019 at the Clontarf Cricket Ground in Dublin, West Indies openers Shai Hope and John Campbell made heads spin globally with a World record opening stand of 365 for the 1st wicket. John Campbell struck his maiden ODI century, smashing 179 while Shai Hope brought up his 5th ODI century in his 50th game in this form of the game.
