England finally win their 1st Men’s Cricket World Cup. One has to say that they were always going to do it, based on being ranked number one in ODI Cricket. It was not as easy as it looked though. Back to back defeats routed by Sri Lanka and Australia had hearts pumping in the England dressing room, and it had to take guts and a strong mind to overcome the agony a couple weeks ago. England had to win three matches on the trot to reach the World Cup final for the first time since 1992. Continue reading “England Win the Cricket World Cup 2019”

How the West Indian Dream was lost
Is it possible for all West Indian fans to be upset that the team did not qualify for the semi-finals of the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019? Is it that heart break continues to loom largely game after game? Was there any confidence moving forward after the West Indies annihilated Pakistan in their first match of this tournament? The answer is probably no unfortunately. Continue reading “How the West Indian Dream was lost”
West Indies Knocked Out Of The World Cup
All the hype of a resurgence before the 31st of May 2019 gave the men from the Caribbean great hope, but at the end of the New Zealand match on Saturday June 22nd, it just wasn’t meant to be. After a more disciplined performance by the bowlers especially with the introduction of Kemar Roach for his 1st game this tournament, the West Indian innings was one of both brilliance and heart-ache. Current Champs Australia Verses West Indian Flair
On Friday May 31st 2019, West Indies totally annihilated the Pakistanis at Trent Bridge, Nottingham in their opening World Cup fixture. Cruising to victory by 7 wickets, this was Pakistan’s heaviest defeat in World Cup Cricket history. The margin of defeat was 218 balls to spare after being bundled out for a paltry 105 on a pitch that had good pace and bounce for the fast bowlers on display. West Indies – Dark Horse at 2019 Cricket World Cup
The once mighty West Indies were the winners of the inaugural World Cup in 1975 and then repeated the feat in 1979. The men from the Caribbean lost the final to winners India, well led by Kapil Dev in 1983. Unfortunately that was the last time the West Indians reached a World Cup final in the 50 over version. Mumbai Indians Triumph by 1 run in IPL Final
What a final it was! Mumbai Indians are the 2019 IPL Champions. For a record 4th time they were victorious against Chennai Super Kings by 1 run on Sunday May 12th 2019. It was the 2nd time in 3 years, believe it or not, that they won the final by 1 run. They were the most efficient, well-rounded team this year with a good balance of fast and slow bowlers. IPL 2019: Who are the favorites?
What an IPL this has been so far. Each match full of sixes, fours, brilliant fielding, and I must admit some breath-taking catches that has made it difficult to sit still when viewing from my living-room. At this point of time, in this illustrious T20 tournament, each team has played 12 games. Delhi Capitals (formerly known as Delhi Daredevils) tops the table rankings at number 1. Specialists required in T20 Cricket
England were in the Caribbean for two months with our white sandy beaches and clear blue waters to enjoy in-between. Finally this tour has ended for the tourists on a high. After a disappointing Test series lost to the Windies 2-1 and then sharing the honors 2-2 in the ODI series, England whitewashed the home side 3-0 in the T20 International series. Having demolished the West Indies in the final leg of the tour with the T20 series victory, it just goes to show that this form of cricket cannot be taken for granted. West Indies VS England 2-2 – Who would’ve thought?
The West Indies record in ODIs before this series was poor by anyone’s standards. Having won 11 out of their previous 40 ODI matches and coming up against a top-dog team like England who are ranked number 1 in this format, it was a tough task. It was beyond my imagination to think that the West Indies would have drawn the recently concluded ODI series 2-2 Continue reading “West Indies VS England 2-2 – Who would’ve thought?”
